Port Haney Station is near Brickwood Park in Maple Ridge. A great train watching location is at the bottom of 225th Street near the entrance to a dry lumber sorting operation. The Bombardier Bilevel coaches, usually 5 to 9 on each train, carry 144 commuters in a push-pull configuration as they turn into Port Haney. They’re maintained for the West Coast Express by VIA Rail

That small road in the foreground leads into a log sorting operation where the logs are pulled from the river and sorted into graded piles, strapped and loaded onto trucks. When the trains are few and far between its fun to watch the heavy equipment toss those logs around like so many matchsticks. Some modellers collect heavy equipment. This is a good place to show it off.
