WINTER VALLEY REGIONAL RAILWAY

On a June morning the West Coast Express accelerates through Mission (right to left in the photo) on its way to Maple Ridge and the bright, modern station at Port Haney.  The last car on the train, in this case the lead coach, is fitted with a controls that allow for ‘backward running’ on the way into the city and more familiar engine first operation back to the suburbs in the evening.  Despite the early hour this crossing at River Road is busy with traffic due to the wonderful jogging, dog walking and just plane sight seeing afforded by the nearby Kanaka Creek Park.

If I recall, those Bombardier Bilevel coaches are available in HO scale.  And look how tall those trees are.  I’m always preaching this I guess but it’s well worth repeating.  An easy test.  Turn one of your 40 or 50 foot boxcars on end.  The trees on the layout should be taller than that.
