Back in the days when a caboose signaled the end of the show I was spending one of those extraordinary long prairie evenings watching trains move in and out of the western yard limits. But the object of this photo is not the bright yellow caboose. It’s a lesson in Canadian prairie scenery. You see? You can put a few giant trees out there in the middle of nowhere and it will look just fine. Anywhere there is, or was, some natural standing water. In this case a now dried up creek bed long ago plowed over.
