WINTER VALLEY REGIONAL RAILWAY

Under the bridge to nowhere. Two of CPRails’s last S3’s found gainful employment in Moose Jaw during the final busy miles of their lives. MLW units were much rarer ‘out here’ than down east and so they garnered somewhat more attention from modellers and other rail hobbyists. It’s a good thing to as they my have simply gone unnoticed. Notice that the land rises towards the far horizon creating a significant power challenge - east and west.

The small CPR style shed is easy to model and almost obligatory in most yard scenes. The unfinished 16 th Avenue Bridge, with neither access nor road surface, spanned the western limits of Moose Jaw for many years. It’s gone now but a quick look at Google Earth suggests that the southern abutment remains. Quite a fine modelling feature if you want to spend hours explaining the anomaly.
