WINTER VALLEY REGIONAL RAILWAY

This is a somewhat more complex structure but it still retains all the classic features of a speeder and tool shed. It sits at CN’s end of track in Grande Centre (Cold Lake) Alberta. Or at least it did in 1974 when this photo was taken just a few hundred meters from our house.

This is big time railroading. There are two speeder trailers here so something must be going on. You can see from the woodpile that another long cold winter is ahead. The doors are an interesting mix of styles. There are two barrels out there. One traditional 45 gallon drum and one that looks like a wooden variety. Notice the stained siding and the clear lack of vegetation around the area. Some of that oil did back then what it’s not allowed to do today. Love that switch stand out front. Nice touch.

Long before any scenery went in down stairs I used this shed as a model. See http://www.wvrr.ca/images/Update%207 -1.jpg
