With apologies to Gary Larson, we had cows. Negotiating our way along the hillside was a bit of a game. The only rule being, ‘avoid the new ones’. We were driving a new M-Class Mercedes and I’m pretty sure there was some little used ejection system in there should it detect an unwanted ‘soil’ on our shoes.
You can see from this photo that the bents are mostly earth tones and almost disappear if it weren’t for their geometric shape. The plate girder is darker with rusty highlights and stands out as being the only horizontal object in the scene. The gold and silver and green in the valley floor are really something to try to emulate on the layout.
