Familiar snowplow CN 55414 was built in 1937 and donated to the Wainwright Railway Preservation Society by CN in 1999. After over 60 years of service it is now open to the public. It’s odd looking friend on the right, 55500, was built in 1938 and donated by CN in 2002. The unique double track snowplow differs significantly from most because it’s designed to force snow off one right-of-way without plugging of the adjoining track.

Everyone should have a snowplow of some type just to sit out there on that unused siding or simply snuggled down in the tall grass next to the roundhouse. They’re a proven eye catcher for the public and can also be an important switching move if the season is right. Check out http://www.northeast.railfan.net/plo w3.html
