Despite all our efforts as modellers of the railway scene we never seem to get it just right. It could be that the real railroads are made up of people just as much as they’re a creation of iron and steel and geography.

In Moose Jaw, in the early eighties, Elwood was serving his last years as an engineer with CP Rail. Paint it how you like it but it was always the CPR to Elwood. And given that he pretty much had his choice of assignments he would often forgo The Canadian, or the main line coal drags, for something called the Wayburn Turn. Out in the late morning, seen here, and after switching grain cars at a ½ dozen elevators, back in plenty of time for “The National”
