If it were always a warm summer evening this wouldn’t be a bad job. The brakeman leans into the switch that aligns a pair of GP9’s with the elevator track. A few hours ago Elwood and our crew had dropped a half dozen empty cylindrical hoppers at Rouleau and now we were back here picking up the filled ones.

The ever so slight dip in the siding is just evident even here at the points. Down at the elevator face the track will be as much as a foot below the main line. This helps insure no grain cars wander ‘up hill’ and foul the main line. Something to think of when modelling as well.
