WINTER VALLEY REGIONAL RAILWAY

I once saw a model of this engine weathered just like the prototype - with the same wiper pattern on the window. This FPA-4 is working the daily passenger train to and from Cochrane Ontario and points south. The baggage car is still wearing CNR green and yellow, as are both coaches. The engine is wearing stripes and the conductor is wearing hounds tooth pants. Now how 70’s it that?

The crew is eastbound across the Kapuskasing River returning from the Y out by the airport and they’ve just regained the main line into the station. This powerful, boxy look won’t be seen in regular service again until the arrival of the GM’s big SD70’s and General Electric’s’ –9 locomotives. I expect that someday someone will reminisce about them as well.

In the meantime, check out….
