WINTER VALLEY REGIONAL RAILWAY

In July, a swampy, Black Fly infested bush wasn’t the best place to be watching trains. Anyway, they were short, eight or ten car affairs headed up by a pair of SW1200’s. But by November, when the frost is already four feet deep, the secondary main running next to Ontario’s highway 11 becomes major carrier. A bunch of GP9’s will join the fray and trains stretch out to the snowy horizon. Perhaps one modern SD70I or a single –9 could do this job today but then what would you do to spread all that weight around?
