As time passed in the holding pattern a change of crew became necessary. A local taxi service brought members from Biggar to the lonely crossing at highway 374 and then returned taking the old crew back into town. This train was now in the firm hands of two ladies with a total of 34 years experience. They would overnight in Edmonton and ride, or run, back home the next day. In the background a clump of bushes; plums, gooseberries, spruce and willow, next to a rusting siding mark what remains of two grain elevators removed from Scott as part of a ‘cleansing’ that took from the late 1980’s to the present. The number of small elevators in West has been reduced from over 2000 to a few less than 600 and of those, local farmers now own many themselves. A thoughtful modeller will be wise not to mix -9’s, SD70’s, and old wooden elevators.
