WINTER VALLEY REGIONAL RAILWAY

Way down east they opted for Alco power to move the Ocean Limited and purpose built a great looking machine for the job.  I loved the boxy power that jumped out at you when an FPA-4 was idling at the station or viewed from afar as it smoked it’s way along the track.

This June 1965 photo may have been taken after CN realigned the stripes on the engines so that they always lined up the same way no matter which way the engines were put in the train.  On the other hand CN may have built this train for the publicity shot being sure to get it right for the camera.  Regardless, I liked the odd zigzag effect as it occurred ‘in nature’ so to speak.

Enough about the train.  Did you notice that little bit of a fence on the meadow? It seems to end nowhere.  And the cattle crossing right at the front trucks.  Do they still have those anywhere?  And that post is bright an clean just like the day it was installed.  I love the spring landscape.  The few evergreens really stand out.
