Modelling from pictures available at the time…..

Well, try as I might I haven’t been able to get any response from the nice folks at Vanishing Vistas who produced these old postcards.  Most of which never made it into the mail because they were snapped up by rail enthusiasts and eventually found a place in a box in the basement. That’s where I found mine.

I have no idea when or where I came to have these but I know at least one helped me model, sort of, the Super Continental - in N scale.

It’s been a while since I’ve made the trip up to Jasper during the day.  The last two occasions were during trips to the Edmonton train show and I was usually sitting down to breakfast in Hinton.

This circa 1960 photo shows the eastbound Super Continental in its short-lived green and yellow outfit.  I know that’s a sacrilege to many but it’s true.  Still, it shows off the roof features existing at the time.  Winterization hatch, cooling pipes (?) and three chime horn.  Check that the bell is missing.  That’s a nice eight hatch express reefer back there.
