Rosser Manitoba.  See below….

….and if you click on ‘satellite’ you’ll probably see a train in the west baring down on the village at the junction of Provincial roads 221 and 236.

It’s an industry where none existed before.  These huge, centrally located concrete terminals are the now and the future of moving grain in the west.  They spelled the end of the iconic wooden grain elevator although a few are left as museum pieces today.  And you know what’s even better than the old style structures?  All that stuff on the top is open for us to see.  There’s the actual elevator conveyor/shaft and the distributor mechanism and the shoots that feed the grain into the desired silos.  Add the motors and the catwalks and platforms and all those bright lights, around 150 to 200 feet above the track, and you’ve built yourself a very visual piece of layout.

Even a very simplified example like I have on the Winter Valley is quite impressive at only 90 feet tall. I added 120 mini lights from three Christmas displays and a spotlight or two and it really glows.  Check out…
