The Saskatchewan Provincial Forrest . Sometimes the tallest things around these parts are those darn poles. Just try to take a picture out west without getting one, or two, in your picture. More often than not, right in front of that one-of-a-kind engine shot. So if you really want to model a prairie scene, and you’ve rivet counted that perfect engine and those perfect string of cars, these isn’t any point is building a layout where you can actually see them. This mixed freight between Portage La Prairie Manitoba and Winnipeg is the last of a breed. Those three GP9’s are now probably working for some short line and earn their keep moving grain, or some other bulk commodity, into the nearest larger city or town so the CN can lug them off to the East or West on the main line. But whatever you decide to model, short line or big power, don’t forget to model it with lots of poles.
